EDMONTON – Jimmy Ralph's breakout game has helped earn the former Alberta Golden Bear the title of Canada West Football Alumnus of the Month for September

Ralph, who has played 13 of 14 games this season for the Toronto Argonauts, posted his best statistical performance of the season this past weekend, as the Raymond, Alta. product had six catches for 62 yards in Toronto's 43-35 OT win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Those totals were both single-game career highs for the rookie wide receiver, who becomes the latest CW player to be honoured as the CW Football Alumnus of the Month, which highlights former conference standouts now making an impact in the CFL.

Overall this season, Ralph has hauled in 18 passes for 168 yards. The first-year pro had his biggest month of the season in September, catching 11 passes for 105 yards, as the Argos went 3-1 in the month to improve their record to 7-7.

Ralph, who was signed as a free agent by the East Division leading Argonauts in May of this year, played two years for the Bears (2014 and 2015), posting a combined 94 receptions for 1,454 yards and five touchdowns. He was a second team All-Canadian in 2015 after finishing fifth in the nation with 862 receiving yards.

Following the 2015 season, Ralph took a year away from the game to focus on academics, and then earned his way onto the Argonauts roster this season as a 24-year-old with one year of university eligibility remaining.

Ralph takes to the field this Saturday in Toronto, as the Argos host the Saskatchewan Roughriders (4 p.m. EDT) in CFL Week 16 action. A week later, Ralph will be back in Edmonton for the first time as a pro, when Toronto visits the Edmonton Eskimos (Saturday, Oct. 14).
