WolfPack Women’s Basketball Remain Unbeaten After Sweeping Mount Royal

The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack are heading home unbeaten after their first four games of the Canada West women's basketball season.

The WolfPack wrapped up a four game road swing by downing the host Mount Royal Cougars 72-62 on Saturday night (Nov 14).  The game was played at the Kenyon Centre.

TRU is 4-0 while Mount Royal is winless in four starts.

"Yet again we struggled to shoot the ball and Mount Royal was able to force us into 23 turnovers, "stated TRU head coach Scott Reeves. "It's been a long season for us being on the road so long and we are looking forward to getting back to our own building for our home openers."

Taiysa Worsfold (5th year, forward, Kamloops, BC) led the way for TRU with 16 points.

Mount Royal had a 14 point lead in the first quarter, but Reeves called a time out and the 'Pack rallied scoring 15 of the next 17 points.  TRU led 15-14 at the quarter point and were up 34-29 at the half.

Emma Piggin (2nd year, guard, Kamloops, BC) and Kassie Colonna (4th year, forward, Invermere, BC) both  had 14 points for the WolfPack.  Michelle Bos (2nd year, guard, Surrey, BC) added 11 points and 13 rebounds (10 on defense).

Mount Royal's top gunners were Angela Driscoll and Yasmene Saghir each with 11 points.

The WolfPack's home opener is next Friday (Nov 20) when they entertain the MacEwan University Griffins of Edmonton, Alberta.  Tip off on the Warner Rentals Court at the Tournament Capital Centre will be 8 pm.  It is "CIBC Shoot for the Cure" night—proceeds from the gate will go to the CIBC Run for the Cure.  The "Shoot for the Cure" is an initiative supported by the CIS Women's Basketball Coaches Association.

On Saturday (Nov 21), it is "McDonalds Family Night".  Tip off on Saturday will be 5 pm.
