WolfPack Men’s Basketball Remain Unbeaten With 28 Point Win Over Cougars

It was not an 'unlucky' Friday the 13th for the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack men's basketball team.

The WolfPack raised their Canada West record to 3-0 and they hammered the host Mount Royal University Cougars 101-72 at the Kenyon Court in Calgary.  The Royals are 1-2.

Canada West all-star Josh Wolfram (5th year, forward, Kamloops, BC) led the way with 35 points and nine rebounds.

Mount Royal jumped out to an early 16-9 lead before TRU responded.  They scored 14 straight points in the first quarter to take a commanding lead.

TRU led 43-37 at the half.

"We started off a little slow but we got it going as the first half went on," said WolfPack assistant coach Tallon Milne.

"The score was not indicative of the game," Milne continued. "It was closer and we expect them to come out even tougher tomorrow. We will have to play solid defensively."

Reese Pribilsky (5th year, guard, Victoria, BC) had 24 points while Volodymyr Iegorov (3rd year, forward, Donetsk, Ukrainek) added 20 points.

Brett Layton led the way for Mount Royal with 28 points.  James Lefebrvre had 16 while former WolfPack Derek Wolf (Penticton, BC) added 11 points.

Milne said TRU got some good production out of the bench and gave kudos to rookies Mike Rouault (guard, Vernon, BC) and Jeff Tubbs (guard, Kelowna, BC).

The two teams will play again Saturday before the WolfPack will return to Kamloops for their home opener Friday, November 20 th on the Warner Rentals Court at the Tournament Capital Centre. They will meet up with the MacEwan Griffins.  Tip off will be 8 pm.
