*Before 1973, teams competed in the Western Canadian Intercollegiate Athletic Union (WCIAU). Canada West was formed in 1972-73, with men's curling competition ceasing after the 1980-81 season, while the first university national championship was awarded during the 2007-08 season. From 2007-08 to 2017-18 Canada West members competed in the Western Canadian University Championship (organized by Curling Canada) as a qualifying event for the national championship.
