CALGARY – The University of Calgary Dinos women's volleyball team fell to the Saskatchewan Huskies 3-1 (25-14, 19-25, 26-28, 22-25) on Nov. 20 at Jack Simpson Gymnasium.
 
The Dinos drop to 4-7 while the Huskies improve to 3-6.  Both teams will rematch tomorrow at 4pm.
 
Captains Laura McManes and Janna Ogle led the way offensive for the Dinos on the night. McManes recorded 16 kills while Ogle followed that up with 15 kills and a team-high 11 digs. Setter Erika Myhre added 42 assists and nine digs for Calgary.
 
For the Huskies, Emmalyn Copping had a game-high 22 kills and 15 digs. Middle Emily Humbert added 10 kills for the Huskies. Setter Jina Barker recorded 44 assists and 10 digs and libero Jennifer Hueser added 14 more for Saskatchewan.
 
In the first, the Huskies went toe-to-toe with the Dinos, tied at ten all before Calgary really started to pull away. After a seven point lead at the technical timeout, the Dinos were unstoppable. Ogle's serves, including three aces, took the Dinos to the end of the set to win it 25-14.
 
A slow start in the second left the Dinos down and hustling to catch up all set. A 16-12 lead for the Huskies at the technical timeout held up and two huge aces from Huskie Taylor Annala put the Dinos in a hole they couldn't crawl out of. Saskatchewan went on to tie the game at one with a 25-19 second set win.
 
The Dinos went point for point with the Huskies throughout the third set and their first lead came at 20-19. Despite being tied at 23, 24,25 and 26, the Huskies were able to come out with the win at 28-26 to take the 2-1 lead in extra points.
 
In a do-or-die set for the Dinos, they had another slow start and found themselves down 10-5 early on. With Ali Woolley coming in to replace rookie Taeya Page, the Dinos slowly started to make the comeback, getting within one at the technical timeout. Unfortunately, the technical timeout stalled the Dinos comeback as they let Saskatchewan score four points before getting the ball back. Calgary was unable to come back from that five point deficit, falling 25-22 to close out the match.
