REGINA – The University of Regina women's soccer team broke the win streak of the top team in the conference on Sunday afternoon, playing the Alberta Pandas to a 0-0 draw at the U of R Field.

Both teams had four shots on net in the contest, although Alberta had 10 other shots that didn't hit the target. Kylie Bolton (pictured) picked up her first career shutout for Regina, while Rebecca Reif earned her fourth clean sheet of the season in the Alberta goal.

"We really stuck together in the back today, we stayed tight and didn't let them play behind us," Cougar captain Lauren Petras said after the game. "Every ball that they got we were on them. We did a good job of holding them off."

Sunday's match was a physical one, with the two teams combining for 25 fouls. Referee Pavel Onceanu assessed 14 to Regina and 11 to the Pandas.

The Pandas did find the net in the 14th minute as a rebound was put in after an Anna Dunn shot hit the post, but the goal was disallowed as Alberta was ruled offside. Dunn had another chance in the 82nd minute but her shot was blocked after a scramble in the Regina box. Morgan Corbett had a look at the net seconds later but multiple Cougars got in the way for another blocked shot.

Alberta, who picked up a 2-1 win yesterday against Saskatchewan, drops to 5-0-1 with the result. The Cougars pick up their first draw of the season, moving to 1-4-1.

Regina will be back on the road next weekend with matches at Lethbridge and Calgary. Alberta will return home to host Winnipeg and Manitoba.
