Winnipeg   - On a cold fall night, The University of Winnipeg Wesmen and the University of Northern British Columbia battled to a tough earned 0-0 draw in Canada West Women's Soccer action Saturday night at the Ralph Cantafio Soccer Complex in Winnipeg.

The Wesmen, played a tough Timberwolves team who the night before beat the University of Manitoba Bisons 1-0.  The Wesmen, who themselves were coming off a tie against the MacEwan Griffins were looking to finish strong at home.  However, the Wesmen came up against a determined Timberwolves team. Both teams battled the cold temperatures of October and showed creativity throughout the game.

Leading the way for the Wesmen were 3rd year players Tyler Johnson, Katia Occhino and Nicole Seavers. All three players had strong games and help the Wesmen earn the tie.

Two other stand outs for the Wesmen were 2nd year players Amy Clayton and keeper Madison Fordyce.  Fordyce late in extra time in the second half, made an unbelievable save that persevered the tie for the Wesmen.

Head Coach Amy Anderson was pleased with the team effort - "Tonight we did well to get a point. It was a real team effort as we had a lot of players not available due to injuries. We had certain players step up and lead like Tyler, Amy, Katia and Nicole. As well as Maddie making a few excellent saves. They represented the program well.

The UNBC finished their regular season next week with games at Thompson Rivers and UBC Okanagan. 

The Wesmen will close out their regular season on the road against The University of Regina Cougars on Saturday Oct 21 followed by a game against the Saskatchewan Huskies on Sunday Oct 22.  Both games are at 1pm
