Cougars Beat Wesmen To End Regular Season

The Mount Royal University Cougars defeated the University of Winnipeg 1-0 in the final regular season match for both sides Saturday night on a windy, cool night in Winnipeg.

Bailey Duncan's first goal of the season in the 39th minute was the lone goal scored in the match.

The Cougars finish the season with a record of 4-7-1. Winnipeg completes the season sporting a 1-11 record.

The hometown Wesmen gave the visiting Cougars all they could handle in the contest, only holding the visitors to one goal in the contest.

Winnipeg goalkeeper Taylor Thorkelsson made 13 saves. Meaghan Prudhomme made five saves for the Cougars.

Senior players Andrea Angioli, Kelsie Paul, Chelsea Kwasnicki, Kayla Jacobsen and Serafina Trunzo all played their final matches in a Wesmen uniform. They were honoured in a pre-match ceremony by Wesmen head coach Amy Anderson.
