CALGARY – Danielle Lugotoff scored the game winner in the 39th minute of the first half to secure Mount Royal's second straight playoff berth. Amanda Schafer added two goals in the second half to solidify the 3-0 victory. Cailyn Leeson was not forced to make any saves in the shutout.

Mount Royal opened the scoring in the 39th minute off a corner kick. Amanda Schafer curled the ball into the box and the keeper punched it away. The ball landed on the foot of Lugotoff who ripped it into the top corner to give Mount Royal an early lead.

In the second half, it was Amanda Schafer's turn to dominate. Schafer scored twice within twelves minutes on two beautiful strikes. Her first was a great individual run from her own half. She weaved through two defenders and let go an arcing ball over the goalkeeper to make it 2-0.

In the 75th minute, the Cougars earned a free kick from 35 meters out. Schafer calmly stepped up and drove the ball into the top right corner for her second of the game.

The win seals Mount Royal spot in the postseason for the second straight season. Their record of 4-6-4 will see them  finish no lower than fifth. Who they will play in the first round is yet to be determined. UNBC finishes the season without a victory at 0-12-1.

The first round of the Canada West playoffs will begin next weekend. The regional quarterfinals will see the top seed play the sixth seed, the fifth play the second and the third play the fourth.
