The University of Regina women's hockey team fell to the Alberta Pandas for the second-straight day at The Co-operators Centre, losing 3-1.

Morin scored the only goal of the first period after a Cougar defender turned the puck over in their zone. Morin collected the loose puck near the blue line, looped around and fired a wrist shot over the glove of Toni Ross.

The Cougars handled Alberta's pressure on Saturday, getting a number of strong scoring chances in the first period. Lindsey Post stood tall in the opening frame, stopping all eight Regina shots including a miraculous pad save on Emma Waldenberger.

The play became chippy in the second period and resulted in a combined seven minor penalties in the frame. Alberta was the first to take advantage of the man advantage, as Kelly fired a shot from the point that beat a screened Ross.

Regina replied less than 90 seconds later on a powerplay of their own. The Cougars worked the puck around in the Pandas zone and Triston Riemer fed the puck over to Larson, who let loose a low wrist shot that beat a screened Post. Emma Waldenberger also assisted on Larson's second of the campaign, which drew the Cougars within a goal heading into the third.

Alberta stretched the lead with another goal just over three minutes into the third. A Pandas powerplay was just expiring as Lindsey Cunningham put a backhand on net and Froehler was there to bang in the rebound.

Post stopped 22 shots in the win. Ross made 29 saves for the Cougars.

With the result, the Cougars drop to 4-6-7-1. The Pandas improve to 11-1-6-0 and hold their spot atop the Canada West standings.

The Cougars will head to Winnipeg next weekend for a pair of games against the Manitoba Bisons. The Bisons sit tied for second place in a crowded Canada West playoff race at 9-2-5-1.
