BRANDON – The Fraser Valley Cascades exacted a measure of revenge Saturday night against the host Brandon University Bobcats, but it wasn't easy as the two teams battled until the final buzzer. A crucial stop by Fraser Valley broke the tie in the dying seconds, securing a 68-66 win for the Cascades.

The Bobcats picked up where they left off Friday, storming out of the gate to a 13-4 lead in the first four minutes. The Cascades hung around, taking a 37-35 lead into the halftime break.

The Cascades started the third quarter on an 8-2 run, eventually building an 11 point lead at the mid-point of the third. The second half saw Brandon hang around, as the 'Cats clawed back to tie the game at 62-62.

Fraser Valley got a big stop in the dying seconds as Kayli Satori made a steal before racing the length of the court and drawing a foul to head to the line with the game tied at 66-66. She hit both of her free-throws to take a two point lead, and Brandon was unable to capitalize on their final possession, resulting in a 68-66 victory for Fraser Valley.

Sartori led all scorers with 29 points, while adding eight rebounds and four steals. Sydney Williams had a big night (12 points, eight rebounds) as did Taylor Claggett (11 points, nine rebounds).

Brandon was led by Mikaela Stanton's team-high 20 points. Keisha Cox had 10 points and five steals, while Lauren Anderson had 11 points and seven boards.

The win moves Fraser Valley's record back to two games above .500 at 5-3, while Brandon falls to 3-7.

The Bobcats will have an exhibition trip to Antigua at the end of December before resuming Canada West play on the road against Mount Royal on January 6.

Fraser Valley's next conference games are on January 6 and 7 at home against the MacEwan Griffins.
