CALGARY - Despite the excitement of basketball being back in the Jack, the Dinos' first game after semester break was a disappointing loss to the Saskatchewan Huskies. In a sluggish game for the Dinos, the final score came to a 77-69 loss. The Dinos record becomes 7-3 while Saskatchewan remains undefeated with a 9-0 record.

From the first quarter, the Huskies were able to edge the Dinos defensively and offensively. Even while the Dinos made attempts to claw back to even out the pace, the Huskies remained in control. Key three pointers and strong ball movement by the Huskies kept the game out of reach for the Dinos. Although there was a strong push led by guard Brianna Ghali late in the game to spark the Dinos' offense, the Huskies ultimately dominated the Dinos to pull away for the win.

Ghali was the key standout for the Dinos tonight with 28 points (11-18 FG, 4-6 3 Pt), 8 rebounds, and 3 steals. Claire Colborne also followed with a strong performance with 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 100% FT shooting. The Huskies, however, came out on top offensively with 4 players scoring more than 10 points and overall scoring 27 points off of Dinos turnovers.

Head coach Damian Jennings was straight to the point in his reaction to the game. He said he was "frustrated, to be honest, because we let ourselves down tonight." For him, the key for the Dinos to elevate themselves as a team is what he called the "spirit of play." He said, as "cliched as that sounds, you can have the best tactics in the world but if your spirit doesn't come together...you're unlikely to win especially if you have the number one in the country."

Regarding Brianna Ghali's standout performance on the Dinos, he said that "we have an expression: 'I am because we are' and that [means] it doesn't happen by yourself. Brianna's contribution tonight didn't happen just because Brianna's Brianna. It happened because four other people on the floor chose to play with the spirit of our play. It was fun for her tonight, I'm sure, but she won't care about the 28 points. She'll care about the fact that we lost."
