SASKATOON – First-year University of Saskatchewan guard Sabine Dukate scored a career high 21 points to lead the No. 1 ranked Huskies to a 68-46 win over the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds Saturday night at the PAC.

Dukate finished the night 8-of-11 from the field, including a five-of-six performance from behind the three-point line, while adding four assists and four rebounds in the win.

Saskatchewan improves to 6-0 with the weekend sweep of the T-Birds, while extending its winning streak on home-court to 26 games. UBC falls to 2-4 with the loss.

Just as they did on Friday, the Huskies jumped out to a big lead early. The top ranked team in the CIS opened the game on a 12-2 run and led 17-7 after the first quarter. The Huskies would extend that lead to 20 two minutes into the second period with a three-pointer by Dukate to make it 27-7.

Saskatchewan went to the locker room at halftime with a 35-18 lead thanks in large part to solid defence as they held UBC to just 18.5 percent shooting in the half, while hitting 47.8 percent of their own shots.

The T-Birds tried to cut into the Huskie lead in the third, but couldn't break out on any threatening scoring runs and managed to cut just one point off the deficit at 51-35. In the fourth, Saskatchewan continued to pull away in the fourth, outscoring UBC 17-11.

Laura Dally added 15 points and six rebounds on 7-of-11 shooting for the Huskies. Dalyce Emmerson filled the stats sheet with 11 points, 7 rebounds, 4 blocks and 2 assists.

Kara Spotton led the T-Birds in scoring for the second straight games. Spotton finished tied with Dukate for a game-high 21 points on 8-of-14 shooting. Diana Lee was the only other UBC player to hit double digits with 15 points. Adrienne Parkin was the T-Birds leading rebounder with six.

The Huskies travel to Langley, B.C. for a pair of games against the Trinity Western Spartans on Thursday and Friday. UBC will hit the road once again next weekend as they visit the Calgary Dinos.
