SASKATOON - A strong shooting performance in the first half gave the No. 1 ranked University of Saskatchewan Huskies a 20-point halftime lead helping them cruise to a 69-49 win Friday night at the PAC in Saskatoon.

The Huskies held a 46-26 lead at halftime after shooting a blistering 64.5 percent from the field in the first half. UBC shot just 28.6 percent in the opening 20 minutes.

With the win the Huskies improve to 5-0 on the season and extend their home court winning streak to 25 games. UBC drops below .500 to 2-3 with the loss.

Saskatchewan jumped out to an early 27-13 lead after the opening quarter. Midway through the quarter the Huskies had built a nine-point lead with a Kelsey Trulsrud three-point shot. Saskatchewan continued to build their advantage to 14 by the end of the first ten minutes.

The T-Birds held their own in the third quarter keeping the deficit near 20 for the entire period. Neither team shot the ball well in the fourth quarter, scoring just 15 points combined. The T-Birds did outscore the Huskies 9-6 in the closing 10 minutes.

Dalyce Emmerson recorded her second double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds on an efficient four-of-five shooting performance. Laura Dally and Desarae Hogberg each scored 12 points. Trulsrud and Sabine Dukate each had four assists to lead the green-and-white.

UBC's Kara Spotton led all scores with 16 points on the night. Diana Lee chipped in for the T-Birds with another 14. Adrienne Parkin led the squad with five rebounds.

The two teams meet again Saturday night at 6:15 p.m. at the PAC.
