WOMEN’S BASKETBALL DROPS BACK-TO-BACK GAMES AGAINST NORTH IDAHO

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho – The Trinity Western women's basketball team lost for the second day in a row against North Idaho College, falling 91-64 Saturday.

Playing their final exhibition game prior to resuming their Canada West schedule, the Spartans fell to a hot-shooting Cardinals side that scored at least 80 points against TWU for the second time in two days. On Friday, TWU lost 80-72.

"We came out here to work on some things to get ready for second semester and especially focus on some defensive strategies that we've implemented," said Spartans coach Cheryl Jean-Paul. "In the second semester, we play a lot of ranked teams and we need to be prepared for a difficult task every weekend. Over the last two days, we played a team that had a very good shooter, a very big post player and is a team that played a lot of zone defence. Those are a lot of the things that we'll see in the second semester and these games definitely helped us develop defensively.

"There were some positives and we met some of our performance goals, but there were also some things that we struggled with. But we're going to get back in the gym and keep working hard and get ready for the second half."

The Spartans are 4-6 in Canada West regular season action this year with 10 games remaining. They will open the second semester Jan. 9-10 when they host Regina at the Langley Events Centre.
