WINNIPEG, MB – A single point decided the women's basketball game as the Trinity Western Spartans held on to win 62-61 against the University of Manitoba Bisons at Investors Group Athletic Centre on Saturday, November 1.

The Spartans dominated play for most of the first quarter and held the Bisons scoreless for almost the first four minutes of the game. Once on the scoreboard, Manitoba netted 12 points and finished the quarter trailing Trinity Western by five.

The Bisons ran into trouble with travelling calls and fouls in the second quarter. They sent the Spartans into bonus with less than a minute left in the half. TWU took advantage of the Bisons' mistakes and extended their lead to 18 points to enter the third quarter up 42-24.

Momentum shifted in the second half as the Bisons scored 24 points to cut TWU's lead to six and end the third quarter down 48-54.

Play was evenly matched in the fourth, but the Spartans held on to win in a 62-61 nail-biter.

This was the teams' second match of the weekend. The Spartans won the season opener 61-56 on Friday night.

The Bisons are now 0-2 heading into their first road game of the season against the University of Regina Cougars on Friday, November 7 at 6 p.m. CST. The 2-0 Spartans host the University of Alberta in their home opener on Friday at 6 p.m. PST.
