COUGARS DOMINATE UBC OKANAGAN AND REMAIN IN THE PLAYOFF RACE

CALGARY- The Mount Royal Cougars dominated the court on Friday night winning 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-18) over the UBC Okanagan Heat. Grigor Kartev and Tyler Schmidt led the Cougars with 10 and 9 kills respectively. Fifth year Jordan Or finished his senior league with 13 digs.

The Cougars and Heat went back and forth staying tied at 10-10. The Cougars took a quick lead after some long rallies. Mount Royal never wavered and won the set 25-19.

Knowing their playoff hopes laid in the balance, Mount Royal turned it up. Their offence was just too strong for the Heat who could only muster 14 points. MRU took the second set 25-14.

The Cougars had little interest in going past a third set. They came out swinging and jumped out to another early lead. The Heat just had no answer for MRU on this night as Mount Royal completed the three set sweep winning 25-18.

With the win the MRU improves to 11-11, while UBC-O drops to 6-15.

The Cougars will travel to Alberta next weekend to play the Golden Bears and try and make a final weekend push for the post season.
