Bobcats beat Bisons in Brandon

BRANDON - The Bobcats men's volleyball team came out swinging and didn't look back, beating the visiting Bisons in straight sets on Friday night (25-22, 25-13, 25-23).

Brandon took control of the game early and didn't let up. The Bisons were plagued with attack errors with only two players finishing the night with positive attack percentages.  BU put up 16 blocks to the Bisons six.

The turning point in the match was early in the second set when the  Bobcats went on a seven point run and didn't allow the Bisons to recover, allowing them to take the set and then the match.

Sam Tuivai paced the Bobcat attack with 19 kills. Sebastien Steigmeier added 10 kills, six digs, and five blocks.  David Stastica had a match-high 38 assists.

Devren Dear led the Bisons with 11 kills and two blocks.  Ken Rooney added nine kills and two blocks.

The win brings the Bobcats record to 7-2, while the Bison fall to 6-5.

The two teams face off again Saturday night in the Brandon University HLC at 6:45.
