Bobcats remain perfect with sweep of Dinos

BRANDON – The Brandon Bobcats men's volleyball team could complete the perfect weekend by taking all sets in their weekend series against the Calgary Dinos, but they'll take the consolation of having a perfect season record.

Brandon picked up a 3-1 (26-28, 25-17, 25-17, 25-20) win over the visiting Dinos Saturday night, the first set loss by two points being the only set they dropped to the Dinos all weekend.

With the win the #4 Bobcats improve to 4-0 on the season.

The Bobcats and Dinos exchanged leads early and often in the first set before Calgary came away with it, but that would be the closest they would come all night as Brandon controlled the remaining sets easily.

The win wasn't as efficient as the night before, but the Bobcats still got some impressive performances. Roy Ching dazzled on both sides of the ball, notching 16 kills on 28 swings (.464 hitting percentage) to go along with nine digs.

Sebastien Steigmeier had a match-high 17 kills, while Sam Tuivai had a double-double (10 kills, 11 digs) and Frank Jones added 13 kills and four blocks.

Braden O'Toole paced the Dinos with 15 kills and Keith West added 12 kills.

With the loss Calgary falls to 3-3 on the season.

On tap next for the Bobcats is a road trip to Edmonton to play the MacEwan Griffins. The Dinos will host provincial rival Alberta Golden Bears next weekend.
