Wesmen Down Griffins In Three

The Winnipeg Wesmen made quick work of the MacEwan University Griffins downing the visitors 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-18) Saturday evening in the Dr. David F. Anderson Gymnasium in Winnipeg.

Winnipeg improves it's record to 2-1. The Griffins remain winless at 0-3.

Casey Schouten led the Wesmen attack with nine kills. Tom Douglas-Powell followed with eight. Logan Brennan had seven digs.

The Griffins were led by Marcus Ernewein and Brady Atwood each finishing with seven kills.

Winnipeg came out strong in the opening set racing out to a 16-10 lead at the technical break. Winnipeg continued to over power the Griffins and won the opening set 25-17. Winnipeg had a hitting percentage of .556 in the opening set, only committing two errors.

The second set was a carbon copy of the first set. Winnipeg led 16-12 at the technical break and eventually went on to win the set 25-18.

The Wesmen did not let up in the third set leading 16-8 at the technical break. The Griffins made a charge late but Winnipeg went on to win the set 25-18.

The two teams will meet on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. (Winnipeg Time) to wrap up the weekend series.
