QUOTES:

TRU head coach John Antulov

On Win:  "It continues to show growth and the confidence in the players. How they are playing. It was a real professional effort out there today. We were playing against the fourth ranked team in Canada. The guys came out hard and played smart. That is what is what I really liked. They were organized.  Communication was excellent and the balance was outstanding."

TRU forward Ryan Glanville

On importance of the victory for the team this year and as a franchise: " As soon as we got back from our road trip in Alberta, we knew every game counted. Points are really hard to come by in this division. We have been able to string together three wins now.  We have three games left and hopefully we can keep this momentum going. Everything is going well across the team."

TRU Midfielder Colton Walker

On it being like a boxing match: "Honestly I thought we dominated the first half. But the second half was more back and forth.  They had a lot of chances at the end but our keeper (Harsany) came up big and performed well for us."

Spartans head coach Mark Shearon

On Loss:  "It is a pivotal time this year. Every point counts in Canada West. Every game counts. That is what we are trying to get into our players. To be honest, I was disappointed in my group today. I thought it was an OK game and TRU deserved the points today."

UP NEXT:

The WolfPack will close out the home portion of their Canada West regular season tomorrow when they entertain the University of Fraser Valley Cascades. Kickoff is 1 pm.  Trinity Western will move into Kelowna for a Sunday tilt with the University of British Columbia Okanagan.

OF NOTE:

Kailum Nicholson (1st year, defender, Kamloops, BC) was inserted replacing Adam Swanson (2nd year, defender, North Vancouver, BC) and made his first career Canada West start. He was named the "TRU Bookstore/McDonalds Leader of the Pack player of the match".  Swanson was sitting out a one game suspension for yellow cards.

He got praise from Antulov afterwards: "I really liked Kailum's steadiness at the back. Smart. He played simple. He won his battles. Won his challenges.  Really, with Adam not being there Kailum stepped in there and it was seemless."
