VANCOUVER – The UBC Thunderbirds attacked well but couldn't capitalize on their chances against the Saskatchewan Huskies, coming away with a 0-0 tie. UBC is undefeated in 2016 CIS men's soccer action, but has left points on the table for three straight games. Saskatchewan moves to 1-3-2 this season.

Since subbing in for Chad Bush on September 3, goalie Jason Roberts has only allowed one goal in six games.

Roberts credits his teammates for a four game shutout streak. "A lot of it has to do with the defence. I'm not getting too many shots against."

At a sunny Ken Woods Field, the T-Birds pressured in the second half – generating quality scoring chances and backing down the Huskies defence with quick transition plays.

Roberts said his team was a bit soft to start the match.

"We didn't play too well in the first half and got outworked a bit. We challenged ourselves at halftime and picked in up in the second half – had a lot more of the possession and got a lot more chances."

One of UBC's best chances came off of a Manraj Bains header in the 72nd minute – hitting the crossbar and bouncing down in front of the goal line.

"I'm pretty disappointed in myself for that one…should've got it in the back of the net."

Although his team is struggling to score, Bains recognizes the strong performances from the Thunderbird defence.

"Our counter-press and our defensive shape have been doing very well recently. That's probably been the best part of our game."

UBC heads out on the road next weekend as they take on Mt. Royal and Lethbridge in Alberta, while Saskatchewan will host Trinity Western and Fraser Valley.
