Alberta remains perfect with 5-0 win over Saskatchewan

SASKATOON - The University of Alberta Golden Bears remained perfect in the Canada West men's soccer season with a 5-0 win over the University of Saskatchewan Huskies Sunday on Field 7 in Saskatoon's PotashCorp Park.

Alberta has won their first six matches of the season to sit on top the prairie division standings at 6-0. Saskatchewan is 0-3-1.

Alberta jumped out to an early lead scoring just five minutes apart in the 17th and 22nd minutes. Nikko Cuglietta opened the scoring playing a loose ball on the advantage in the box. Tolu Esen added the Golden Bears second goal on a tap in on a scramble in front of Huskie keeper Greg Buckley.

Ajeej Sarkaria added the third and fourth goals for the Golden Bears in the 59th and 70th minutes. His second of the day was on a penalty kick when he was hauled down in the box. Tyler Graham scored the fifth goal of the game on a Saskatchewan defensive breakdown in the 77th minute. He was left alone on the left side of the pitch and was able to tap the ball in the net. 

Connor James made five saves for the Golden Bears in net, while Greg Buckley made four saves for the Huskies. Kyle Moore also played in net for 27 minutes for the Huskies. 

Alberta took 15 shots in the match, while Saskatchewan recorded 10.

The Golden Bears remain on the road to face the UBC Thunderbirds and Victoria Vikes next weekend, while the Huskies travel to meet the UNBC Timberwolves and Thunderbirds.
