WINNIPEG - The University of Winnipeg Wesmen and the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns battled to a 1-1 draw in a Canada West Men's Soccer battle Thursday afternoon at the WSF Soccer Complex North in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Lethbridge evened the contest in the 86th minute on a goal by third year midfielder Stephen Primeau. Winnipeg's lone goal was scored by Andrew Kliment in the 4th minute of play.

The Pronghorns had the advantage in total shots by a 14-6 margin. Wesmen goalkeeper Joshua Dielmann made six saves in the contest while Pronghorns goalkeeper Nolan French made two saves.

After Winnipeg opened the scoring in the early stages of the game, both teams were unable to sustain any offensive pressure as both teams stepped up the defensive play.

Dielmann, who stands 6-5 made three big saves on shots that were headed for just under the cross bar to keep the Wesmen ahead 1-0 heading into the halftime break.

In the second half Kliment almost put away his second goal of the contest. Kliment raced down the middle of the field and got a quality shot away but it was turned aside by French.

The Pronghorns came close to scoring their first goal of the game in the 55th minute but Dielmann turned away the initial shot and followed that up with a big save on the rebound.

Lethbridge after many quality chances finally found the net in the 86th minute as Primeau chipped a shot past Dielmann to tie the score at 1-1.

Winnipeg (0-1-1) will be on the road next week with games on Saturday and Sunday in Edmonton against the Alberta Golden Bears.

Lethbridge (1-0-1) will be on the road for the second consecutive week with games at Mount Royal on Wednesday folowed by a matchup against Calgary on Thursday.
