Second Half Let Down Costs WolfPack Men’s Soccer In Victoria

The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack played a consistent first half but a 10 minute let down cost them as they were beaten 5-1 by the hometown University of Victoria Vikes in Canada West men's soccer play.

"We let a goal in early," said WolfPack head coach John Antulov. "The team wasn't mentally prepared to start. We looked fatigued. I know it's not our fitness. I guess as a coach I will have to get them more prepared.  They should be used to be playing back to back games by now."

Cam Hundal scored three goals for Victoria in this match including one in the 93 rd minute.

TRU's marker game in the sixth minute when Ryan Glanville (3rd year, forward, Williams Lake, BC) finished on a play started by Oljamide Ajibike (1st year, midfield, Maple Ridge, BC).

"We were holding our own for the rest of the first half," Antulov continued describing the 1-1 result after 45 minutes.  " In the first 10 minutes of the second half we were ok but then a 10 minute let down resulted in Victoria scoring three more times."

Antulov said it was a combination of bad judgement by his players coupled with Victoria having some very quick forwards on the outside which exposed the WolfPack defenders.

He did praise keeper Travis Froehlich (5th year, Revelstoke, BC) for playing solid in the nets.

TRU sees its record drop to 1-3 while Victoria is 4-1-2.

The WolfPack are on the road next week with matches at Fraser Valley and Trinity Western. Their next home match is Saturday, October 10 th at Hillside Stadium. It's a 7 pm tilt against the University of British Columbia Okanagan Heat.
