CALGARY – Following up on his late-game heroics at the Crowchild Classic on Tuesday night, Riley Sheen covered the scoresheet in his name as the University of Calgary Dinos beat the Regina Cougars 6-1 at the Father David Bauer Arena.

Sheen, who won the Dinos' showcase at the Scotiabank Saddledome with 3.3 seconds remaining in regulation, notched four assists against Regina on Friday, giving him 10 points during a five-game point streak. 

The victory is the eighth consecutive contest where the Dinos have picked up at least a point. Calgary moves to 17-6-1-1, while Regina remains in the conference's cellar with a 4-20-1-0 record.

Penalties caused problems for the Cougars early, but steady goaltending from Dawson MacAuley kept the Dinos at bay for most of the opening frame.

Calgary found the back of the net on their second man advantage of the period when Sheen's wrist shot went wide but landed in perfect position for Coda Gordon to tap the puck past MacAuley.

The Dinos ended the first period with 16 shots on goal.

Although outplayed by a great margin in the first frame, Regina tied the game a mere 15 seconds into the second period on a goal by Connor Odelein. 

That goal ignited a fierce response from the Calgary offence, which went on to record three tallies of their own in the period. Matt Alfaro and Logan Fisher scored three minutes apart, while Gordon connected for his second of the game with six minutes left in the middle stanza.

"I think we're just locked in right now and our team is really clicking," said Sheen, who collected two of his four assists during the second.

The Dinos dominated the last period, outshooting their opponent 12-1. Ryan Graham scored 1:25 into it, while Ryan Gagnon netted his first of the season in the final minutes of the game.

Too many trips to the penalty box by the Cougars forced MacAuley to make 40 saves on the 46 attempts he faced, while Matt Greenfield stopped 10 of the 11 shots.

The Dinos and Cougars will face-off again on Saturday with a 2 p.m. puck drop at Father David Bauer Arena.
