NEW WESTMINSTER – Third-year University of Calgary Dinos forward Elgin Pearce is the WHL Grad of the Month for February, as announced Thursday by Canada West Universities Athletic Association (CWUAA).

Pearce, who registered 148 points in 254 career WHL regular season games combined between the Kootenay Ice and Medicine Hat Tigers, had a tremendous month of February, registering seven goals and three assists in 10 games.

Of Pearce’s 10 points in the month of February, seven came in the playoffs, as the Dinos made it to the conference semifinals.

The Port Coquitlam, BC native was the driving force behind the Dinos three-game quarter-final series win over the Manitoba Bisons last month, scoring five goals.

While Calgary bowed out of the conference playoffs this past weekend in the semis to the Saskatchewan Huskies, Pearce’s 2015-16 campaign will go down as one to remember, as he was named Wednesday as the UBC Hockey Alumni Trophy award winner for sportsmanship and ability for a second consecutive season.

Other nominees for the WHL Grad of the Month award were: former Red Deer Rebel Brett Ferguson (Alberta), ex-Seattle Thunderbird Luke Lockhart (UBC), former Red Deer Rebel Jordan DePape (Manitoba), three-year Medicine Hat Tiger Scott McKay (Mount Royal), and former Kelowna Rocket Jordon Cooke (Saskatchewan).
