LETHBRIDGE, AB – The #10 Calgary Dinos, coming off a big win Friday night, completed the weekend sweep of the home and home series against the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns with a 4-1 win.

Goals by Ryan McNaught and Walker Wintoneak gave Calgary an early lead that they would not relinquish, with Dylan Hood and Teigan Zahn also netting goals for the Dinos.

Despite outshooting the Dinos 11-9 in the third period, the ‘Horns were unable to complete a comeback. With this win, the Dinos move into a tie with Manitoba for second in the division (5-3-0 CW) while the Pronghorns remain in sixth spot (2-4-1 CW).

The Pronghorns are back in action next weekend when they host the University of Alberta Golden Bears Saturday and Sunday, with games at 7pm and 3pm respectively. The Dinos travel to Vancouver where they visit the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds, Friday and Saturday, at Doug Mitchell Winter Sports Centre.

EDMONTON - In their sixth straight one-goal game, including four that needed extra time and then some, the Alberta Golden Bears took a 2-1 double-overtime decision against the #5 Saskatchewan Huskies on Saturday at Clare Drake Arena.

Rookie forward James Dobrowolski notched the winner 2:09 into the three-on-three overtime period and veteran centre Sean Ringrose scored for his team-leading eighth point on the season. Former Prince George Cougar Réal Cyr made 24 saves for the win.

Ryan Holfeld was crucial to Saskatchewan earning the extra point, making 43 saves in the loss. Sophomore Derek Hulak tallied the lone goal for the Huskies.

The 4-2-2 Golden Bears will head south next weekend to play the 2-4-1 Lethbridge Pronghorns in a two-game series and the 5-1-1 Huskies return home to host the 4-1-1 Manitoba Bisons.

REGINA – Scott Wasden’s overtime goal with just over a minute left gave UBC a 3-2 win over the Regina Cougars in Canada West men’s hockey action at The Co-operators Centre.
 
Wasden corralled a loose puck after a shot from the point, put it on his backhand, and beat Regina goalie Lucas Gore to give UBC (3-1-2) its third victory of the young Canada West season.
 
Both of Regina’s goals were scored by Lucas Isley and came just 87 seconds apart.
 
Michael Wilgosh scored the lone power play goal of the contest exactly four minutes after Isley’s second goal, tying the game at two. The score stayed 2-2 through regulation until Wasden’s goal, his fourth of the season. Max Grassi opened the scoring for UBC with just over six minutes left in the second.
 
Jordan White made 25 saves in the win for the Thunderbirds, while Gore stopped 31 of UBC’s 34 shots.
 
UBC continues the Canada West schedule next weekend with a pair of home matches against Calgary (5-3-0), while the Cougars (2-5-1) will have a weekend off before playing host to those same Dinos on Nov. 11 and Nov. 12 at The Co-operators Centre.
