Big night for Unruh lifts Huskies over Bobcats

SASKATOON – Third-year guard Alex Unruh came off the bench to score 22 points leading the University of Saskatchewan Huskies to an 81-61 win over the Brandon University Bobcats Saturday night at the PAC.

Unruh got on a roll in the third quarter going a perfect three-for-three from behind the arc. He finished the night five-for-eight from long range and 8-of-13 overall to go along with three assists and a pair of rebounds.

After falling behind 21-15 after the first quarter the Huskies outscored Brandon 21-9 in the second and erupted for 30 points while holding the Bobcats to just 15. Saskatchewan took a 67-45 lead into the final quarter.

With the win, Saskatchewan improves to 6-10 and keeps the Huskies in the hunt for the post-season. Brandon falls to 1-15 with the loss.

Shane Osayande recorded a double-double of 11 points and 14 rebounds for the Huskies. Half of Osayande's boards came on the offensive end. Evan Ostertag finished with a game-high six assists and nine points.

D.J. Jordan led the Bobcats once again on Saturday night with 18 points. Jordan grabbed a team-high six boards in the loss. Earl Thompson Jr. and Chris Stanhope scored 15 and 12 respectively for the Bobcats.

The Huskies will play their final home games of the regular season when the host the University of Alberta Pandas. The Bobcats return to home court in Brandon next weekend against the UBC Thunderbirds.
