The Golden Bears shot 52% from the field in the opening half while Winnipeg struggled, sinking 37% of their shots from the field.

The halftime break seemed to be what the Wesmen needed. Winnipeg came out after break on fire scoring 11 of the first 14 points to tie the score at 39-39 with six minutes remaining in the contest. A jumper by Christopher Baxter gave the Wesmen their first lead of the game at 41-39. A pair of baskets by Travis Krahn combined with a Ryan Oirbans bucket gave the Wesmen their largest lead at 51-44 with 1:32 left in the third quarter. Youssef Ouahrig scored four points down the stretch to cut the Wesmen lead to 51-48 after three quarters.

Winnipeg continued to hold the lead for a majority of the fourth quarter until a three-pointer by Ouahrig tied the game at 60-60 with just over four minutes to play. Christopher Baxter drained a jump shot to give Winnipeg a 62-60 lead but it was short lived as a three pointer by Joel Friesen with 2:40 remaining gave the Golden Bears the lead at 63-62 which turned out to be the final tally.

Alberta will be on home court next weekend against Manitoba. Winnipeg will be on the road in Victoria next Friday and Saturday.
