Bobcats bounce back to pick up first win

BRANDON – The Brandon Bobcats stumbled out of the gates Saturday night, but finished the race strong, as they picked up a much-needed 94-89 win over the Trinity Western Spartans.

The Bobcats trailed by as much as 14 points in the first quarter, but a resilient effort led the 'Cats to chip away all night at the Spartan lead. Brandon outscored the Trinity in the three remaining quarters, picking up its first lead mid-way through the third quarter.

Trinity would not regain the lead despite a persistent attack, as Brandon was able to hold on for the team's first victory of the season.

The Bobcats were led by Kenonte Ramsey's game-high 26 points, while Earl Thompson Jr picked up another double-double, finishing with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Guards Mikee Dosado and DJ Jordan both finished in double-digit scoring with 16 and 13 points respectively.

Denny McDonald was a force in the paint, putting up 22 points for Trinity and pulling down nine boards. Kelvin Smith had 17 points, Tyus Allen finished with 15 points and Jesse Jeffers contributed 13 points.

The win improves Brandon's record to 1-7, while the Spartans sport an identical record at 1-7.

The Bobcats will close out the first half of the regular season next weekend on the road against the Regina Cougars while Trinity will play the Calgary Dinos.
