LETHBRIDGE, AB -  The Lethbridge Pronghorns put up 31 points in the third quarter to grind out a 99-87 win over the #7 Saskatchewan Huskies on Saturday at the 1st Choice Savings Centre.

The ‘Horns cached in on 50 percent from beyond the arc and had six players in double figures to earn a split with the Huskies on the weekend, pushing their Canada West record to 3-1, while the Huskies fall to 2-2.

Iron Springs product Logan Reiter scored 14 of those 31 third quarter points, leading the ‘Horns in scoring with 20 on the night.  Adding to his effort was point guard Chaz Johnson with 17 and nine rebounds, and Lethbridge native Julian Spear Chief-Morris with 15 points and six boards.

Once again, the ‘Horns had a difficult time handing the post play of Matthew Forbes who finished the night with 27 for the Huskies.

The ‘Horns go on the road next weekend to face the Alberta Golden Bears in Edmonton, while the Huskies will play the Calgary Dinos.  Games will be webcast on canadawest.tv.

WolfPack-Thunderbirds Stats

by Lee Dorner, UBC Sports Information

VANCOUVER – The UBC Thunderbirds rode a dominant first quarter to the win on Saturday, holding the Thompson Rivers WolfPack to a single point in the first ten minutes en route to the 97-63 victory at War Memorial Gym.

The 23-1 first quarter marked UBC's best ever defensive quarter, with the lone point coming on a DJ Oates free throw after being fouled by UBC centre Jared Casey. T-Bird fans can hardly blame Casey for giving up the shutout though, as the big man had three blocks in the quarter to help keep the WolfPack without a field goal.

Geoff Pippus and Doug Plumb each scored 16 points to pace UBC while Troy Grant led Thompson Rivers  with 14 points. Tommy Nixon and Connor Morgan also scored in double digits for UBC.

Thompson Rivers falls to 1-3 on the year. They will be playing at Mount Royal next weekend.

The T-Birds are off to a 4-0 start, and will be at home next weekend looking to continue that. They host Fraser Valley on November 16th at 8 p.m. and 17th at 7 p.m.
