FB: Former T-Bird Loffler named CW Alum of the Month

EDMONTON – Winnipeg Blue Bomber defensive back Taylor Loffler is the Canada West Football Alum of the Month for September. 

The former UBC Thunderbird recorded 19 total tackles for the Bombers in September, as Winnipeg went 2-2 over the month. 

Highlights:

  • Loffler registered 19 total tackles and an interception in four games played during the month
  • Edem played one season for the Thunderbirds, winning the Hardy Cup and Vanier Cup in 2015

Loffler's biggest play of the season came Week 16 in Edmonton, as the Kelowna product intercepted Esks quarterback Mike Reilly in Winnipeg's 30-3 rout of Edmonton. 

Loffler was selected 19th overall in the 2016 CFL Draft after claiming both the Hardy Cup and Vanier Cup with UBC in 2015. 

Since joining the CFL in 2016, he's been a two-time CFL all-star, appearing in 49 career regular season games for the Bombers, who enter the CFL stretch run sitting third in the West Division. 

Through 15 games this season, Loffler has 51 defensive tackles and one special teams tackle to go along with his interception.

This marks the second time Loffler has won the Canada West monthly award, after previously claiming it as a rookie back in August of 2016.

The Blue Bombers are back in action this Saturday when the host the Saskatchewan Roughriders at 1 p.m. CDT in Winnipeg.
