REGINA – The No. 4-ranked Alberta Pandas earned a weekend road split on Saturday night after defeating the Regina Cougars in three straight sets at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.

After Friday's thriller which required the full five sets before Regina pulled off a late run for the win, Saturday's match had a markedly different feel with Alberta reeling off seven straight points to start things off and cruising to a wire-to-wire 25-20 win in the opening set.

The Cougars looked to have regrouped in the second, but the turning point of the match came when Alberta reeled off a late 9-2 run to turn what had been a three-point Cougar lead into a 25-21 win for the Pandas.

The third set was all Alberta as the Pandas hit .357 as a team and clinched the match with a 25-18 win to improve to 10-4 on the season.

Kory White continued her solid campaign with a 21-kill performance, finishing with a .333 hitting percentage and also helping out defensively with 10 digs. White ranks second in the conference in kills per set, averaging 4.31 through the team's first 14 matches of the year.

Julia Zonneveld added 10 kills, 10 digs, and five aces for Alberta, while libero Jenae Eisler finished with a match-leading 16 digs and setter Mariah Walsh dished out 34 assists while controlling a Pandas offence that hit .262 as a team in the win.

Ashlee Sandiford led Regina (6-8) with 12 kills.

Both teams are back in action next weekend. Regina will make the short trip north to take on provincial rival Saskatchewan, while the Pandas will host Brandon in a pair of games in Edmonton.
