SASKATOON – The University of Saskatchewan Huskies fell to the Mount Royal University Cougars in four sets (25-21, 24-26, 25-17, 25-12) Friday night on Ron & Jane Graham Centre Court at the PAC.

Fifth-year Alex Donaghy lead the Cougars with match-highs in kills and service aces; 16 and five respectively. Donaghy also added 10 digs and four assists. Third-year Chantel Park had 13 kills and four digs while adding an assist and a service ace of her own.

For the Huskies, second-year Emily Koshinsky recorded a team-high seven kills and 10 digs, adding an assist and two services aces.

Mount Royal improves to 5-4 on the season with the win, while the Huskies drop to 3-6.

The Cougars edged the Huskies in the first set, after the Huskies gave up a 22-20 advantage late in the set.

Facing a 24-19 deficit late in the second set, the Huskies would go on 8-0 run to come back and steal take the second set, 26-24.

An early 9-2 advantage in the third set would prove too much for the Huskies to recover from, as the Cougars took it 25-17.

In the clinching set for Mount Royal, both teams traded points early on until the Cougars would build a comfortable 15-7 lead halfway through the set. That lead would carry them the rest of the way, as they took it 25-12.

The teams meet again Saturday night. First-serve is at 6 p.m.
