REGINA, Sask. – The University of Regina women's volleyball team won in five hard-fought sets over Brandon University on Friday evening at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health and Sport.

Down 13-10 in the fifth, it looked like the Bobcats had the victory when the Cougars went on a 5-0 run to steal the win. Ashlee Sandiford had the last four points of the night for Regina, all of them kills, to bring them to 4-5 on the season.

The match was even all night as momentum continuously shifted between the two teams resulting in back and forth wins for the first four sets. Regina won a close first set 25-21 with six lead changes but Brandon dominated the second 25-16 to even up the match.

Regina won the third set 25-19 but once again the Bobcats tied it up by taking the fourth set 25-18 after leading from start to finish, setting the stage for Regina's comeback in the deciding set.

With her strong finish to the game, Ashlee Sandiford led Regina with a double-double getting 16 kills and 11 digs. Setter Satomi Togawa added the other Cougar double-double with 43 assists and 14 digs. Kathleen Ens also had a good match with nine kills and a .353 hitting percentage while leading all players with eight blocks. Fourth-year libero Taylor Ungar had 19 digs as well as six assists.

Nikala Majewski of the Bobcats led the way on offence by delivering 16 kills while Sami Love and Danielle Larocque added 11 and eight kills, respectively. Love didn't start the match, but came in for the second set and had just two errors on 19 attacks to finish with a .474 hitting percentage. Libero Caitlin Le led the match with 20 digs. Fifth-year setter Mary Thompson had a double-double with 34 assists and 10 digs for the Bobcats.
