REGINA, Sask. – One night after dropping a five-set marathon to the University of Regina in Canada West women's volleyball, the top-ranked Alberta Pandas recovered for a four-set win over the Cougars on Saturday evening at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.

The Cougars continued their momentum from Friday's upset victory by hitting .394 in the opening set, helping them to a 25-19 win to take an early lead in the match.

But it was all Alberta from there. The Pandas won the next three sets by scores of 25-19, 25-18, and 25-22 to improve their Canada West record to 3-1 on the season.

The Pandas enjoyed a 13-5 advantage in blocks, with all six players in the starting rotation getting credit for at least one. Shauntelle Hogg led the way with a match-high six blocks, while Vanessa Jarman recording five and both Kory White and Erin Corbett collecting four.

White's 15 kills paced Alberta offensively, while Corbett added 10 and both Jarman and Julia Zonneveld finished with eight. Jarman's eight kills came on just 19 attacks and with no errors, finished with a .421 hitting percentage. First-year libero Jenae Eisler had 14 digs, seven assists, and passed 23 serves without committing a reception error, and setter Eryn Orysiuk finished with 38 assists and put down four kills herself.

Regina setter Satomi Togawa had 41 assists and 12 digs for one of two double-doubles for the Cougars, the other going to Ashlee Sandiford with a team-leading 12 kills to go along with 10 digs. Jessica Lerminiaux had 11 kills to finish in double digits for the fourth straight match, while Kathleen Ens and Diana Lumbala finished with similar numbers. Ens had 10 kills and hit .375, while Lumbala finished with nine kills and a .350 hitting percentage.

Both teams return to action next weekend. The Cougars will be on the road for two matches at Mount Royal, while Alberta will host Manitoba on Friday and Saturday.
