CALGARY – The University of Calgary Dinos women's soccer team demonstrated great energy and intensity throughout the match but were unable to add another win to their record against the University of Manitoba Bisons, settling for a 0-0 draw Saturday afternoon.

All of the Dinos' opportunities in the first half followed a similar pattern. Sienna Prince-McPherson in the 8th minute had an opportunity to score but shot straight into the keeper's hands. In the 15th and 18th minutes, Kayla Kreutzer had not one but two chances to score for her team. Both times she breezed beyond the defenders, had opportunity to score but was stopped by Bisons keeper, Justyna Jarmoszko.

In the 30th minute, Montana Leonard was up for a penalty kick, her third good opportunity in the match. The Bisons' keeper dived down to save Leonard's shot.

Celeste Gallego was the first from Bisons to create an opportunity for a goal. In the 32nd minute, she received the ball and proceeded to head it toward the net. However, Lauren Houghton, the Dinos' keeper saved the ball and kept the zeros on the scoreboard.

The second half commenced with the same intense energy as was shown in the first half of the match.

In the 54th and 58th minutes, the Dinos had two corner kicks that showed great potential for goals, but one of them landed outside of the goal and the other shot was passed onto Kayla Kreutzer but the header went overtop of the goal.

Leonard had two more incredible chances at scoring in the 65th and 66th minutes, however Jarmoszko stopped both opportunities.

Coach Troye Flannery at half time pursued more intent from the group in possession.

"We created chances, had a ton of possession, but we just need a little more intent and belief," said Flannery. "It's a slippery slope as sometimes that very pursuit has us forcing things a little."

Flannery noted the program respect and stingy tactics the team is facing in opposition whilst also noting how well this bodes for the groups growth.

Overall, the Dinos had more opportunities to score and had majority of the possession of the ball. The game finished with 21 shots by the Dinos and seven by the Bisons. Houghton made four saves for Calgary while Jarmoszko was much busier, stopping Dinos shots 12 times.

Sunday, Manitoba heads down Crowchild Trail to take on the Mount Royal Cougars, while the Dinos will welcome the Winnipeg Wesmen for a 12 p.m. kickoff.
