LANGLEY, B.C. – Found different players found the back of the net for Trinity Western and goalkeeper Rachel Sydor (Tsawwassen, B.C.) picked up the clean sheet, as the Spartans cruised to a 4-0 win over UBC Okanagan Friday at Chase Office Field.

Second-year striker Kathryn Harvey (Coquitlam, B.C.) opened the scoring in the 10th minute and the Spartans (5-2-0) rolled from there. With TWU holding possession for much of the contest, the Spartans Kathleen Chin (Calgary), Rachel Hutchinson (Cloverdale, B.C.) and Leanne Verhoeff (Calgary) added to the goal total as TWU earned its most lopsided win of the season.

After dropping two of their first three games, TWU has found its form, nabbing four consecutive wins while going 376 minutes without allowing a goal.

Sydor made three saves for her first ever Canada West shutout. Francesca Balletta stopped two of the six shots she faced for the Heat (0-6-1).

Harvey tallied her second of the season in the 10th minute when she took a long clearing ball from Aliya Coy (Calgary) and buried her chance into an empty net after Balletta and one of her defenders collided to create an easy look for Harvey.

Chin got her first goal of the year in the 25th minute when she took a clearing attempt off a corner and volleyed it into the net.

The Spartans went up by three when Hutchinson took a loose ball at the midfield stripe and ran nearly half the field, before slotting it past Balletta.

Verhoeff rounded out the scoring with a brilliant striker from outside the box that she tucked into the top right corner.

After the Spartans outshot the Heat 7-1 in the first half, UBCO pushed back and were much better over the final 30 minutes, finishing with a 5-4 edge in shots in the second half.

"It was a good first half. In the second half, I was delighted we got the insurance goal – Leanne had a nice strike – but after that the game fizzled out. I thought UBCO played quite well and we didn't generate too many chances after 4-0. They're an up-and-coming team and they pass the ball well. I thought we dealt with their threats and finished our chances really well.

"I thought Rachel (Hutchinson) was lively and Seina Kashima (Burnaby, B.C.) was very good in her decision-making. We're a team that when we play well and are on our front foot, we can score goals and we can defend well and I think we showed that tonight. Now we need to maintain that level consistently."
