REGINA - The University of Regina women's soccer team fell victim to a 2-1 comeback win against the Lethbridge Pronghorns at the U of R Field on Sunday afternoon.

Raeleen Vanden Dungen and Lindsay Amatto scored second-half goals for the Pronghorns. Brianna Wright (pictured) scored the lone goal for the Cougars.

The Cougars, who fall to 0-3-3, had 16 shots with six on goal, while Lethbridge countered with eight shots and five on goal.

Regina dominated the opening half, and benefited early with a goal in the seventh minute after consistent pressure in the Lethbridge end. Brianna Wright was the goal scorer, netting her first of the season on a beautiful shot to the top corner. Nikita Senko picked up an assist on the goal, flicking a header over to Wright off a long kick.

After holding Lethbridge without a shot in the first half, the Pronghorns replied with eight shots in the second half and capitalized on two of them. The first Lethbridge goal came in the 56th minute as Vanden Dungen scored her first of the season. Naomi Perkins crossed the ball into the box and it found its way to the second-year midfielder who put a low shot into the corner of the goal.

Amatto notched the game winner in the 78th minute as the ball was sent into the box from the right wing. Ashton Lowry was out of position and Amatto had an open goal. Her first shot was saved by defender Cassie Longmuir but her second found the goal for what turned out to be the game 

There was a mad scramble in front of the Lethbridge goal in the 79th minute just after Lethbridge scored to take the lead. Sydney Langen was credited with the lone shot on goal but there was a pile of more than ten players on the Pronghorn goalline before keeper Micaela Stone came up with the ball.

The Cougars will be back on the road next weekend with games against the Alberta Pandas (3-1-1) and Mount Royal Cougars (2-2-1). Lethbridge will be at home for games against Winnipeg and Manitoba.
