REGINA - Two goals from Autumn MacDougall helped the No. 4-ranked Alberta Pandas to a 5-0 win over the University of Regina women's hockey team at The Co-operators Centre on Saturday afternoon.

Kennedy Ganser, Cayle Dillon and Kiara Machry also found the net for Alberta, as the Pandas move to 7-2-1-0 on the Canada West season. Halle Oswald was the winner in net, as the rookie netminder made 14 saves for her second win of the season. Morgan Baker made 18 saves at the opposite end of the rink.

After a scoreless first period, Alberta took just 39 seconds of the middle frame to break the deadlock. MacDougall's second goal of the weekend was a powerplay marker after a Shaelyn Vallotton tripping penalty from the first period carried over. A shot from the left circle was deflected and found its way right to MacDougall who rifled a quick shot past Baker.

Ganser's goal came near the middle of the second period, as a long dump in and a backhanded shot from Alex Poznikoff produced a big rebound and an easy goal for Ganser.

The Cougars had a chance to cut into the Alberta lead, as rookie Jenna Merk worked her way into the slot. Merk whipped a wrist shot that beat Oswald to the blocker side but rang off the post and bounced out of harm's way.

Instead of a one-goal game, the Pandas grew their lead thanks to MacDougall's second of the afternoon. Alberta's speed presented a two-on-one break which saw Poznikoff slide a pass over to MacDougall who walked in tight and put a wrist shot past Baker.

The Pandas added another midway through the third period, as a point shot from Dillon took a funny bounce past the pad of Baker. An empty netter from Machry wrapped things up as Regina drops to 4-5-0-1 for the year.

The Cougars will be on the road next weekend with a matchup against the last-place Calgary Dinos. Alberta will return home to host the Lethbridge Pronghorns.
