REGINA – A four-point night from Alex Poznikoff led the Alberta Pandas to a 4-0 win over the University of Regina women's hockey team at The Co-operators Centre on Friday evening.

Poznikoff was involved with every goal the No. 4-ranked Pandas scored on Friday, scoring once and adding three assists. The fourth-year forward set up Danielle Hardy, Kennedy Ganser and Autumn MacDougall as well as scoring her fourth goal of the season in the third period as the Pandas improved to 6-2-1-0.

Alberta's top line of Poznikoff, MacDougall and Ganser terrorized the Cougars, combining for nine points.

Dayna Owen earned her second shutout of the season, making 15 saves on the night. Jane Kish stopped 20 shots as the Cougars drop to 4-4-0-1.

Hardy got things going late in the first period, netting her first of the season on the powerplay at the 16:53 mark. Kish was able to stop the first shot sent her way but the rebound landed right on the stick of Hardy for the easy goal.

Ganser scored the lone goal of the second frame, finishing off a slick passing play with Poznikoff and MacDougall. Poznikoff's goal was an assisted marker early in the third period, as she collected a loose puck and went in on a breakaway to beat Kish with a quick wrist shot.

MacDougall picked up her third point of the night less than two minutes later, converting a wrist shot from the slot for the finishing touches on a dominant night for the Pandas.

The Cougars were heavily outshot in the first and second periods, mustering only five shots in the first 40 minutes. Regina bounced back in the third period outshooting Alberta 10-8.

Alberta was 1-for-5 with the man advantage while the Cougars failed to capitalize on both of their powerplay chances.

The Cougars and Pandas will battle again on Saturday, with a 3 p.m. puck drop scheduled at The Co-operators Centre.
