REGINA - The University of Regina women's hockey team fell 5-0 to the No. 1-ranked Alberta Pandas at The Co-operators Centre on Saturday afternoon.

The Cougars surrendered four goals in the first period as they drop to 6-12-1-3 and stretch their winless streak to seven games.

Deanna Morin led the opening period charge with a first-period hat trick, scoring her first of the night just 43 seconds in. Morin also batted a rebound in at the 9:17 mark and finished the trio at the 14:06 mark.

Alexandra Poznikoff continued her hot play as well, scoring her third of the weekend off assists from Autumn MacDougall and Ashley Morin just 26 seconds after Morin's second goal. Jane Kish was relieved by Morgan Baker after Poznikoff's goal, having made just two saves on five shots.

Kish was back in the Cougar net to start the second period and the middle frame passed with no score for either team. Jaslin Sawatzky capped off the afternoon with her first goal of the season midway through the third period, putting a rebound home after Kish stopped a low shot from Abby Benning.

Kish totalled 17 saves after her shaky start, while Baker made three stops in just over 10 minutes of work. Kirsten Chamberlin was rarely tested with quality chances, stopping 17 shots for her third shutout of the Canada West campaign.

The Cougars are at home again next weekend, with the first-place Manitoba Bisons in town for a weekend set. Alberta (11-4-4-3) will play host to the Lethbridge Pronghorns next Friday and Saturday.
