REGINA – The University of Regina's women's basketball team has now won 10 consecutive games after defeating the Brandon Bobcats by a 92-73 score on Saturday night at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.

Kyanna Giles was the catalyst for Regina once again, leading all players with 20 points and adding seven rebounds and four steals.

The win improves Regina's Canada West-leading record to 15-1 on the season.

It was an improved performance for the visiting Bobcats, who were on the wrong end of a lopsided 118-51 score on Friday night as Regina set a program record for most points in a single game. Brandon was within one in the latter stages of the first quarter after a Kylie Weckend triple, but the Cougars replied with a 13-1 run and never looked back. Regina took a 47-31 lead at halftime, and ended any hope of a Brandon upset bid with 10 consecutive points in the early stages of the third quarter.

Besides the second consecutive stellar game for Giles, the Cougars also had a 17-point performance off the bench by Carolina Goncalves. Charlotte Kot added 15 points and seven rebounds, while Michaela Kleisinger also broke into double figures with 10 points and had a game-high six steals.

The loss mathematically eliminates Brandon from the Canada West postseason race as the Bobcats fall to 2-14 on the season. Keisha Cox led the Bobcats in both scoring and rebounding, finishing with 19 points and nine rebounds in the setback. Brandon has four games left to close out the campaign, including two home games next weekend against Saskatchewan and away games at Thompson Rivers on Feb. 2 and Feb. 3.

The Cougars will prepare for four big games before the postseason begins. Next weekend will see a pair of tough home games against a Winnipeg team that's 12-4 and also riding a 10-game winning streak, and then Regina will square off with Saskatchewan on Feb. 2 and Feb. 3 in Saskatoon.
