WINNIPEG – Earning half of her team's points, Bisons guard Nicole Konieczny caught fire as the University of Manitoba Bisons women's basketball team completed the sweep over the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns in an 82-59 win at Investors Group Athletic Centre on Saturday (Jan. 6).

Konieczny led the scoring for the Bisons with 41. The third-year also added seven rebounds. Her team rallied around her to gain a healthy lead over the visitors.

"My team made me look unreal," said Konieczny. "It was a collective team win."

Konieczny hardly left the floor, playing 37-minutes. Her 41 points crushes her previous career high of 25, which she earned last season.

"Looking into the stands, I see my two parents," said Konieczny. "I have a huge support system behind me. It was a great day today, and it's going to be a great night."

Meanwhile, Horns guard Zoe Dahl was her team's leading scoring for the second night in a row. She put up 15 points, while her teammate Katie Keith contributed eight and added 14 rebounds.

The Pronghorns went on a slight run to start the game's second half. They pulled within two points in the third, but the Bisons stepped on the gas to lead by 20 at the end of the quarter.

The Bisons had a comfortable 87-73 win over the Pronghorns last night. Taylor Randall, a second-year guard, put up 28 points to lead her team to victory.

Manitoba plays again next Saturday, Jan. 13 at 12 p.m. CT when they host the University of Victoria Vikes. The Pronghorns stay in Lethbridge next weekend to host the UBC Thunderbirds on Jan. 12 at 6 p.m. MT.
