WINNIPEG -- A bye-week break is well-timed – and well-earned – for the Winnipeg Wesmen women's basketball team.

Antoinette Miller had a game-high 27 points and the Wesmen won their eighth straight game Saturday, knocking off the Brandon Bobcats 81-67 at Duckworth Centre.

The win moves Winnipeg's record to 10-4 on the year heading into a bye week, a break that precedes a showdown with their biggest – and closest – rivals.

The Wesmen will play at Manitoba on Jan. 19 and host the Bisons the next night.

For now, however, the Wesmen can bask in a lengthy run of victories, the second straight year they've strung together at least eight straight wins. Winnipeg hasn't lost since a Nov. 12 defeat at Calgary.

Miller's scoring led four Wesmen players in double digits. Faith Hezekiah chipped in 15, Lena Wenke had a season-high 14 and Skylar Boulanger followed her 27-point performance Friday with another 13 on Saturday.

Robyn Boulanger, who hit five threes in Friday's win, knocked down a couple more in the fourth quarter and finished with seven points.

"I think we're really confident and we're really more of a team now especially that we're on a streak," Robyn Boulanger said. "We need to keep together in order to keep on that streak and that's our plan."

In her first year out of U of W Collegiate, Robyn Boulanger has shown very few signs of being rattled by the bigger stage of the university game.

"It was a little bit of a slow start for me today, but that's what our plays are all about is penetrate and pitch … and that's where I get most of my practice from," she said.

Keisha Cox had 22 to lead Brandon (2-10). Lauren Anderson added 10.
