WBB: Wesmen top MacEwen to move to 7-4

WINNIPEG - In what was a lowing score sloppy affair the Winnipeg Wesmen topped the MacEwen University Griffins 62-54. The two teams were knotted at the break at 29. The first half saw Winnipeg charge out to a seven-point first quarter lead, only to see MacEwen turn it around with a mid-second quarter surge to take a six-point lead of their own. Winnipeg's Antoinette Miller led a one-person attack on both ends to tie the game at 29. The second half Winnipeg gapped the visitors early and then basically held on for the win.

Miller led all scorers with 32 points, adding 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Faith Hezekiah had another double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds.

For the Griffins Paige Knull and Kayla Ivicak both had 12 points, Knull added 6 rebounds. The Wesmen move to 7-4 on the season with the victory, the Griffins drop to 3-8 with the loss.

The two teams will match up again tomorrow night at the Duckworth Centre, tipoff at 5 pm.
