BRANDON – The Calgary Dinos answered the call after Friday's loss, picking up a weekend split thanks to a 78-59 win over the host Bobcats on Saturday.

The Dinos shot the ball well, played well in transition, and effectively worked the press forcing turnovers - a recipe for success in the competitive Canada West conference.

The biggest difference was how the Dinos beat the Bobcats on the glass, out-rebounding the Bobcats 49 to 29.

Calgary shot the ball effectively when needed, hitting timely three's and going 11-for-29 as a team from beyond the arc.

The Dinos were led by Erin McIntosh's double-double, finishing with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Brianna Ghali also had 17 points while Katie Upham added 14.

Three Bobcats finished in double-digit scoring, led by Hailey Maas' 14 points. Keisha Cox added 13 points while Lauren Anderson added 11 points.

"I think the thing we need is that sense of urgency we had in the fourth quarter we need to have that from the start," says Brandon coach Novell Thomas. "It's hard to always come back and come back in that fashion and we did it, but just got to get out of that habit."

The win moves Calgary back to a tie for third place in conference standings at 6-2, while the Bobcats fall to 1-5 on the season.

The Bobcats will go right back to work after this weekend and try to put Saturday's loss behind the as they prepare to travel to Winnipeg to play provincial rivals the Manitoba Bisons.

The Dinos will return home to Calgary and enjoy a bye weekend before heading back out on the road to take on the Saskatchewan Huskies in Saskatoon as they close out the first half of the conference season.
