SASKATOON – The University of Saskatchewan Huskies continued an undefeated start to the Canada West women's basketball season, with a 90-34 win over the previously unbeaten Thompson Rivers University WolfPack Friday night on Ron & Jane Centre Court at the PAC.

The win improves the reigning back-to-back Canada West champion Huskies to 3-0.  It's the first loss of the season for the WolfPack, who fall to 4-1.

It was the Huskies first action since October 28th, after a bye last week.

After one quarter, the WolfPack were within striking distance with the score at 19-11 but that would be as close as they would get in the game. The Huskies opened up the game in the second, outscoring Thompson Rivers 28-7.

The Huskies' defence would hold the WolfPack to just 16 points in the half, with just five of those points in the final quarter. Saskatchewan scored 43 points in the second half to seal the victory.

Second-year Summer Masikewich lead all scorers with 17 points, adding eight rebounds and two assists. Third-year Megan Ahlstrom was close behind with 15 points to go along with two rebounds and three assists.

Fifth-year Shenise Sigsworth lead the WolfPack with six points and three rebounds. Third-year Leilani Carney and fourth-year Emily Vilac would each added five points.

Thompson Rivers shot 19% from the field, including 13% from the three-point range. Meanwhile, the Huskies shot 52% from both the field and three-point range.

The two teams meet again Saturday at the PAC. Tipoff at 6:15 p.m.
