WINNIPEG – University of Manitoba Bisons lose to the MacEwan University Griffins 70-56 to extend the Herd's losing streak to five in women's basketball during a back-and-forth game on Friday, Nov. 10 at Investors Group Athletic Centre.

"We just need five players to come ready to play," said Bisons head coach Michele Sung. "We're not very good at executing a game plan for 40-minutes yet."

Despite inconsistencies, the home team held a slight lead throughout the first half.

Bisons guard Taylor Randall's aggressive play pushed the Herd's momentum. She put up six points in the first half and added another 11 in the second.

Randall stole a pass under the home net in the final minute of the second quarter, but got tripped up at the centre line. The Griffins scored on the resulting turnover to tie it 24-24.

The visitors led 28-24 by half-time.

After being down 34-27 early in the third quarter, the Bisons pushed nine unanswered points. The home team outscored the Griffins 22-14 in the quarter to reclaim the lead.

The game's back-and-forth style continued in the fourth quarter. This time the Griffins took a turn going on a run. The visitors outscored the Bisons 28-10 to take the lead and the game.

The win is the Griffins first of the season. Meanwhile, the Bisons have yet to come out on top.

Both teams lost their home openers last weekend (Nov. 3/4) and started the regular season with 0-4 records.

The same teams play again on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 5 p.m. CT.
